Design Crush: Accents in Sunset tones of Rose & Terracotta

Best Terracotta and Rust Rose Interior decor pieces, ideas and inspiration

Twice this week my heart has skipped a beat seeing rust hued furniture and accesories. This sofa (top left) actually made me gasp when I came across it in the latest issue of Elle Deco at the weekend and the new colours of Stelton’s Emma tea and coffee wares (centre) are a perfect colour crush too. I’ve been gathering a sourcebook in my head of this tone for well over a year, it’s been hinted at in various trend predictions and I saw a gorgeous fabric called Tallmyra rust on an IKEA Nockeby sofa last summer, but really this colour hasn’t fully broken yet. There’s something really sophisticated about its modern use, no whiff of the brassy terracottas that were so popular in the mid-nineties, these are muted accessories that will bring warmth without arresting your visuals, they look particularly well with grey, which most modern homes have in abundance these days. It may not be everywhere yet, but in homage to the piece I saw in Elle Deco at the weekend here’s my rundown of favourite Rose and Rust toned decor wares. I’m crossing fingers it becomes a high street trend soon, I’ve seen some rust linen bedding on the horizon from H&M so here’s hoping…

Items left to right, from top left: // Ochre Plant Box –  Ferm Living //  Nikos Sofa in Rosewater – Bonaldo //  Orange Ceramic Cup & Saucer – Hend Krichen  //  Nude Kettle – Stelton   //  Terracotta Cushion – MADE  //  Salantai Wool Blanket – Urbanara  //  Terracotta Pitcher – Another Country  //  Heather Cushion – Aiayu  //  Rust Kevya Rocking Chair – Cave Home   //   Tobacco Bed Linen – In Bed  //

The Tobacco bedding looks unusually comfy (maybe it’s the styled shot). I’m looking forward to fresh colours in homewares, whether they become big trends or micro trends.
