Some rooms are just impossibly pretty. I bet this one above makes you swoon, right? And you can’t pinpoint exactly why, is it the incredibly beautiful de Gournay wallpaper, or the elegant crisp lines of the bedlinen with the green stripes that pop quite perfectly amongst the scheme, or maybe it’s the opulence of the Salmon velvet bed, or have you noticed the miniature peacock wicker chair on the tray? When a design is this perfect, it’s all these elelenents singing together which will have your heart racing, and if you are an exuberant person perhaps wanting to exclaim Goals! Ok, maybe I went too far there, but this room does exactly what incredible design does to the heart and imagination and it’s set in a house full of such spaces.

The Holiday House London opened on 9th November and you can buy tickets to view the houses until 10th December hereUniquely this design show house is raising funds for Breast Cancer Research. A venture started in New York by interior designer and breast cancer survivor Iris Dankner, proceeeds raised from the London houses will go to The Royal Marsden and Cancer research at the University of Cambridge. Not only can you buy tickets to view the showcase, but you can shop every single item in it, and if you have a spare £23 million you can even buy one of the two houses themselves, I know isn’t that a thought!

There’s been a bit of a change on the design landscape in London recently with the arrival of Design houses which take interiors to the next level. It’s a concept which started in America and which our Scandinavian brothers and sisters have adopted where those at the top of their field in interior design showcase their ideas translated onto real spaces we can all enjoy. Devol kitchens have a design house showcase in Clerkenwell, Skandium opened one in Kensington last month and the newest swoon worthy kid on the block is Holiday House London. And as you can imagine it’s seriously good ground for inspiration. There are sticks of rock on ceilings, neon lights above beds, candid photos of Joan Crawford at dinner, a flashing cervix, Damien Hirst designed tiles for Lalique and the Queen with her tongue out, now where else are you going to find such off the wall inspiration all in one space?!

I was lucky enough to be invited to a dinner at Holiday House last week by one of the sponsors, Farrow & Ball whose paint is used beautifully throughout the house (Peignoir in the hallway being a revelation within the schemes for me) and it was very hard to leave at the end of the evening. I could seriously handle living here, you know if anyone has a spare £23 million, it would be well spent setting me up! It’s a wonderful showcase of designers unique tastes and visions all in aid if a good cause, and did I mention you can purchase every item in it? But tell me, which is your favourite room?! If you haven’t already guessed, mine is Amelia Carters bedroom at the top of piece (repeated again below) but I strongly urge you to go and see the details in their full glory for yourselves. Enjoy!
