I love all seasons, but right about now I usually start dreaming pretty heavily about fall. What an incredible month of sunshine we’ve had, topped by the fair weather final bank holiday of the season as a fitting swan song to summer. And now it’s that time of year again when the school calendar starts to loom and if you’re a bit too enthusiastic like me you may even have a glint in your eye for Christmas. Certainly for many it’s a time we start to think about getting snugly, right? Hot drinks, winter walks, mooching around in doors, lounging, hot baths, comfort and dark evenings entertaining at home. Well then I think it’s probably also the perfect time to talk about sofa choices!

You may remember that back when we did our living room reveal I bemoaned the state of our old Chesterfield sofa which our lovely cat has very un-responsibly used! So I’ve been thinking and looking around at sofas a fair bit recently.  They can feel like a fairly monumental purchase, not just price wise but because of their long term impact on a space. Your sofa will probably be one of your biggest purchases in a lounge and choosing something with design and longevity that’s neither too stylised nor too blah (let alone comfortable!) within your space can be tricky, especially if you don’t have a huge budget.  Happily a new collection launches tomorrow which ticks all the right boxes on look and price and is both British made and designed. The Lounge Co is the new kid on the sofa block but it has sturdy credentials being brought to us by the people behind iconic British brand G-Plan. The aim is to provide covetable stylish sofas at accessible online prices that can also be touched and of course sat upon in selected galleries across the country.

The Lounge Co have a fabulous range of fabrics and colour ways across their 24 Sofas and chairs (which results in a whopping 75,000 possible customer configurations!) and all manufacturing is based in Britain which is pretty amazing considering the price points. If you are looking for thoughtful design that’s locally sourced and keenly priced add this firm to your radar. I am absolutely in love with the Florence sofa (above), perhaps given the name it strikes me as being a sofa which may feel entirely at home in a Fellini film or a beautiful Dutch loft apartment. It’s a real statement piece and that inky blue is heavenly. Sadly I can’t see it quite fitting into the style of our current lounge (we are perhaps too Vintage-Bohemian for its Mid-Century glamour and good looks) but I am super impressed by its form which I think looks considerably more high end than its price. For our own living room I think the Rosie (below) or Poppy (main image) would be a fairly good fit (in fact Poppy mirrors a lot of the elements of a considerably more expensive sofa we currently own). It looks super comfy and inviting, I can just imagine being curled up lounging on it with the cat on winter evenings (though her claws are certainly not welcome on this sofa!). I am really drawn to the dark blues and greens from The Lounge co’s range but I think this would look incredible in our green living room in one of their coral or blush tones, perhaps Tiger Lily or Autumn Fox.

With The Lounge Co there are so many choices that they really do look to have a style for everyone. I have chosen pretty classic pieces in this post which reflect my taste in vintage design choices but if you like super modern there is also a sofa for you (perhaps the Lola or Mallory?). I love the trend-inspired designs they offer in tandem with an investment in British manufacture and craftsmanship. All products come with a 10 year guarantee. For more ideas and inspiration check them out and let me know what you think. You will find them here: www.theloungeco.com
