Design Files: Best of 2013 on Pinterest

December 30, 2013

I am absolutely addicted to Pinterest and find myself perusing the site daily. It’s such a great way of book marking ideas for the future, exploring your reaction to form and tone and thinking about how you may take inspiration from a plethora of image ideas for use in your own spaces. I have pinned thousands of images and ideas over the last year. These are my very favourite pinspirations, they are the ones I am drawn to again and gain.

These are my four very favourite pins of the year, they are all fairly
simple, with touches of industrial or modernism, I have such house envy
for all of these fabulous spaces.

Tom Dixon Form Tea set range

There are so many home design pieces that catch my eye each month that I never have enough room to put them all in the weekly edit. So, with this in mind, I have decided to start a new post category highlighting the most covetable pieces that have caught my eye. And for my inaugural post I could hardly choose anyone more deserving than Tom Dixon to put the lust lens on.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

December 23, 2013

Christmas Table Decoration, deer and tree in cloche glass dome, candy cane candle arrangement, birch stars, pine cones.

Christmas in our apartment…So far!

I love the kitsch nostalgic styling that has been everywhere this year, it fills me with the kind of childlike joy only fitting to this time of year. In homage to all the amazing d.i.y snowglobes with deer I have seen on blogs and pinterest over the last few weeks I have sourced my own lazy girls interpretation of the trend, and am totally in love with my deer and tree under glass cloche display. I am also really pleased with this candy cane candle holder which was an idea taken from the Ocado magazine substituting their multicoloured canes for classic red and white which I think looks so fresh and spritely.Read More

Christmas Confectionery

December 18, 2013

One of the best things about this time of year is the excuse it gives to make confectionary. There’s  almost nothing more calming during this hectic time than standing and stirring a spoon for 15 minutes waiting for the sugar thermometer to hit the soft ball stage. I have two staples which I’ve made for the last few years. One is super easy and the other is super yummy and I thought I’d share them Read More

Christmas Candy Cane Stripes

December 17, 2013

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

I love the combination of red and white, just as with yellow, red is a colour that looks so fresh against white, its almost alive its so vivid. And so I have become a little obsessed this Christmas with peppermint candy canes and anything candy striped. I love this candy cane candle holder arrangement, its an idea that I nicked from the Ocado Christmas magazine, there is something so carnivalesque and circus about candy stripes, so cheerful and so fun.Read More
