Typography has been courting time in vogue for the last few years prompting books and articles on the meaning of type choice as signifier of personality and lifestyle with the design aware set. I fully admit that I have a slightly more than casual interest in this too and have picked up a fair few typographic homewares for the apartment, including the trinkets above. In the modern world we are bombarded by type fonts, they create brand and identity and this has been translated in a plethora of ways by home design from old adverts to art work taking in many kinds of trinkets along the way.Read More

New Season: Ikea Brakig

Ikea SS14 is having a bit of a Ferm Living moment through its Brakig range – hurrah! I can only assume it is inspired by the highly successful pastel geometric homewares of Danish brand Ferm Living whose covetable canon of spears and stripes is now interpreted at very accessible price points in this limited edition range  by Ikea. The range consists of everything from duvets, stools and rugs to storage boxes, bowls, trays and cups taking in cushions and chests of drawers along the way. It’s mixture of plywood, pastels and geometric shapes make it the most complete range by Ikea that I have ever coveted. Only available in store at present, we have already bought bowls and storage boxes but I have my eyes on a particularly cute pouf if I ever happen upon it in store…Read More
