AD – This Post is a collaboration with Mette Ditmer

am all about the little design details in life and am a firm believer that the small touches really impact on how you feel about your space.

From the click of your light switch, to the handles on your door, through to the weight of a knife or how a toilet brush looks, these humble objects that you encounter all the time really impact on your experience of the home. Good quality items that are made to last, which balance function and form perfectly are always where my heart is, not only does this feel very important right now in the geographical climate, but it’s also where I think you find most pleasure in design.

.

So, today I’d like to introduce you to a Scandinavian brand with quality at their heart that I have loved for years. I have been buying pieces from Danish design house Mette Ditmer for nearly 5 years. As a brand who concentrate on bathrooms and bedrooms as their staple, the beauty of their range is found in how build-able it is. Each new line is a continuum of the past, with pieces that hold a similar design aesthetic they are perfectly blend-able with each other and allow you to add to your collection over time without needing to buy a whole collection when you simply need a new soap dispenser or a towel.

I am delighted to have been sent some of my favourites from their latest collection to style in the home and the quality of the pieces I received are exceptional. Mette Ditmer’s mission is to create great quality stylish pieces with a timeless feel, so each new line can be added to an existing collection without jarring, you can mix and match from different lines whilst still keeping the within same simple stylised and elegant Scandi theme.

I am quite genuinely a little magpie-like with Mette Ditmer and the wishlist of items I love is very long! However I have edited down to a few choice pieces, and several vanity bags (I can’t rate these highly enough, and already own a monochrome Tile one on my dressing table, which you will see in an upcoming blog post I’m writing on beauty and skincare). From the simplicity of well chosen material combinations in velour and tapestry fabrics of the new Venus line, to the stylised forms of ceramic in the Shade range, and the colour and stripes of the boudoir collection, each piece is a real pleasure to see and touch.

Mette Ditmer, who has been designing for more than twenty years, places mindfulness and conscious living at the centre of her design ethos, which you can really see in the timelessness of the pieces and the attention to detail. I am just in love with this range and it has been a pleasure to add to my own collection of their pieces. What are your favourites? You will find my favourites, alongside those I chose for this piece below.
