Simple Scandinavian Monochrome accents for the Garden

I often think that finding your style in the garden can be a bit of a minefield. Unlike interiors, where there is a wealth of looks and trends to think about and find inspiration.

Outdoor furniture can be clunky, drab, and very expensive, or else ruined by programes like Love Island – you know what I mean, that modern bohemian look that can be charming but always seems to crop up on these naff reality shows (I know because I watch most of them!). Although I started planting and re-landscaping the garden three years ago, beside a pair of white bistro chairs, and some old wooden outdoor furniture my sister kindly gave me that I painted, I haven’t narrowed down on choices and invested in a look yet.

But all of this is about to change as operation outdoor living is next on my list. As you will have noticed from previous garden posts, I like a pretty simple palette in my garden with flowers planted in whites, blues, green and sometimes softer peach tones. I painted the fences white three years ago (they already desperately need a new lick of paint, which I will be starting soon) and I have some plans to concrete over a small patch at the back of the garden next month to make way for a black summerhouse-style shed.

You see where I’m going with this, right? I want to finally sort out our garden furniture and make an area that feels in keeping with the rest of the space outdoors. And as a long term lover of modern Scandi design I thought I would compile a list of some of my current favourites. After choosing my favourites, it felt like a look was coming together as I swapped items in and out of my virtual shopping list. What I’ve chosen is modern, a little stylised and completely monochrome. And well, I thought it would be rude not to share it! So, here is my rundown of favourite modern Scandinavian pieces for the garden. Enjoy!
