Now that the winter chill has really started to bite I have developed habits for hot drinks and croissants. Maybe winter should be a time for bowls of granola and nutritious bulk but it’s also the time one feel most like cosy-ing decadently with something far less worthy. And is there anything more timelessly decadent than well made English tea-sets? This one is sleek and may owe more than a nod to French or modern Italian design, but it’s actually made by a British company that formed to bring the interwar cafe-bar culture of Vienna to London.   Freud have a reputation for doing a mean line in cocktails entirely in keeping with these decadent wares.Read More

Screen-printing with Daniel Heath

So, last week saw me do a couple of exciting new things, one was to help with the styling of a project in Fulham and the other was to attend a wallpaper screen-printing demonstration from the very talented Daniel Heath at his studio in Walthamstow. I was invited by new social platform In The Window and have liked Heath’s illustrative designs for a while. The first time I saw them in real life was at Decorex this year and they really are joyful, his Art Deco, taxidermy and circus motifs work exquisitely on both paper and furniture.Read More

How early is too early to start thinking about Christmas?! I have a slightly over-enthusatic inclination as winter draws in to sit perusing recipes and decorations, planing for the time when your home feels most cosy and sociable.
