I’ve been super excited to have been asked recently to have photo-shoots in the Design Soda home for both magazines and websites that I love, and today I wanted to share one of them with you. This house tour was published over on Apartment Therapy last month and was a bit of a dream for me. I was thrilled to be approached for this (in fact I was approached twice which I took as a huge compliment!). Apartment Therapy was the first interiors blog I ever read, possibly the first interiors book I seriously looked at, and a place I can still find hours of inspiration on.
It has also resulted in a new friendship with the very talented uber-babe photographer Cathy Pyle who shot the house. Cathy did a beautiful job and captured our home in new ways, at angles I haven’t used before, with her lovely eye for capturing light and natural style. I’m always interested to observe how people shoot my home and to pick up tips from professionals that can help me with my own pictures, Cathy’s natural approach and eye for detail were really inspiring. There were moments when the two of us were both camped out in my bath for a shot (such is the logistics of a small bathroom!) and I can’t think of anyone I’ve had more fun on a shoot with for a long time. I have subsequently been super humbled to have been featured again by Apartment Therapy in a piece very flatteringly entitled Secrets to Steal from an Interior Stylist’s Chic Home. These are some of my favourites from the shoot, but you can see the full tour here.
